||Angela is a Chartered UK Patent Attorney, European Patent Attorney, European Trade Mark and Design Attorney and French Patent Attorney. With a BSc in Physics & Chemistry from Goldsmiths College, University of London and having carried out research towards a PhD in Physic from the University of Strathclyde, she specialises in software, business methods, electronics, digital broadcasting and telecommunication technologies.
Having worked in-house for major Multinationals, Angela has essentially been the client and know what clients want. As head of department for all patents in Europe for one of the Multinationals, Angela managed a portfolio of several thousand patents and applications, handling all matters from invention conception to exploitation of the final patent. Angela assists clients with all aspects of developing and managing their IP portfolios and has experience of working with multinational companies and with SMEs, universities and spin-out companies. Based near Nice, she has experience of working with both French-owned companies and with the local facilities of overseas multinationals.
Angela is involved in advising clients on all aspect of Intellectual Property and how this impacts the commercial decisions of their businesses. In particular, Angela helps clients identify which inventions are commercially valuable for their business and prepares and prosecutes patent applications relating thereto. Once the patents are granted Angela can provide appropriate advice for the exploitation and commercialisation of the inventions, patents and technology. Angela is passionate about obtaining patents of commercial value for the client and tries to discourage clients from having patents just for the sake of having patents.
Angela mostly works in English but can advise clients in both English and French. Angela is fluent in French.
As a result of her technical expertise and experience in US corporations, Angela has a detailed knowledge in all US patent matters and has been closely following recent legal developments, such as “Bilski” and the Patent Reform Bill. Angela has a solid understanding of which inventions might succeed in the business method arena, in most major jurisdictions.
Out of work, Angela is a keen bridge player and loves spending time with her family and pets. She enjoys walking, gardening, cooking and always tries to find time to do the Times Cryptic Crossword. Angela helps a local charity supporting old people in the region by visiting retirees and acting as the press and communications representative for the charity.
